ASX Announcement 19 August 2026
Managing Director & CEO Transition
SYDNEY, Australia– Atomo Diagnostics Limited (ASX: AT1) (Atomo or the Company) today
announces that Managing Director and CEO Mr John Kelly will step down from his role as both a director
of the company and as CEO effective 19 August, 2026, following a Board decision to reposition the
Company's executive leadership to reflect its evolving international commercial footprint.
As a co-founder of Atomo, Mr Kelly was key in developing the Company's core technology, launching
its initial award-winning HIV product, securing its listing, and establishing its commercial platform
internationally. Through his leadership, the Company has undergone significant transformation,
expanding its customer base and commercial opportunities across international markets with the
majority of the Company's commercial activity and potential now concentrated in the United States and
Europe.
In recognition of this accelerating shift, the Board has determined that considering a transition of the
Managing Director and CEO to a global position is better aligned with the Company's operational and
commercial structure moving forward and has resolved to explore transition executive leadership closer
to its core markets. The Board thanks Mr Kelly for his foundational contribution in building the Company
from inception to its current international scale.
As a result, the Board has appointed US-based Dr. Cheri Walker as interim CEO, effective immediately.
Dr. Walker is very familiar with Atomo and the diagnostics market, having served on the Board of
Directors since 2022 and as Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee for the last year. Dr. Walker is a
senior executive and entrepreneur with more than twenty-five years' experience working with public and
private life science and diagnostic companies and has now become an executive director. Employing
year’s of experience in financial markets as a stock analyst, commercial execution to meet aggressive
growth targets, investor relations, strategy, licensing, M&A, and IVD/IVDR/MDR/MDSAP/ISO13485
quality systems, she has worked as part of and with management teams, private equity and venture
firms to develop the best strategies to build their life science business. Dr. Walker's US base reflects
the Board's acknowledgement to better align executive leadership with the Company's primary
commercial markets.
This appointment also reflects a broader evolution in the Company's leadership requirements, as it
moves from a technical and development focus to a more commercial and sales-driven emphasis as it
scales its presence in international markets, particularly in the US. Dr. Walkers's experience
commercialising life science and diagnostic products in the US and Europe positions her well to lead
the Company through this next phase of growth. Additionally, the next phase of growth for Atomo is to
build a diagnostic company with a strong and compelling pipeline of its own proprietary products for
professional and consumer use, growing from its current focus on being the technology inside other
diagnostic companies’ products. The Board will commence a formal global search process to appoint a
permanent CEO in due course. The key terms of Dr Walker's agreement are included in Appendix 1.
To support a smooth transition, Mr Kelly will has agreed to support Dr. Walker as interim CEO to ensure
continuity of leadership and facilitating the transfer of knowledge, key relationships and strategic
priorities and the Company has agreed to pay Mr Kelly an additional 3 months' salary for this support
